Our Story

It Started with a Wedding Cake

Hi, we're Melanie and Rich—the husband-and-wife team behind Tiny Batch Bakery.

Our baking journey began in 2017 when, during our whirlwind 6-month engagement, Melanie decided she wanted to make our wedding cake. Armed with a new KitchenAid mixer and plenty of determination, she spent months perfecting her craft, testing everything from lemon chiffon and cheesecake to red velvet and countless chocolate variations.

She produced so many cakes that Rich regularly brought them to share with his colleagues—turning his office into unofficial taste testers for what would eventually become Tiny Batch Bakery.

From Hobby to Passion

Even after the wedding, Melanie kept baking. That KitchenAid mixer became a permanent fixture on our counter, and our kitchen rarely went a week without something sweet in the oven.

What started as a creative outlet slowly grew into something more. Through the years, Melanie has baked macarons, galettes, bread, cinnamon rolls, birthday cakes, and thousands of cookies. Friends and family began requesting their favorites, and Melanie became known for her reliably delicious baked treats.

Why Tiny Batch?

Melanie felt inspired to experiment with bread doughs one day, spending countless hours researching and tweaking recipes. One thing led to another, and in September of 2025, we officially opened Tiny Batch Bakery.

We believe the best treats come from small batches made with the right balance of ingredients and a high bar for quality. Every cookie and cinnamon roll is made with the same attention to detail that went into that first wedding cake.

We're still the couple who debates the perfect ratio of chocolate chips to dough and gets genuinely excited when a new recipe turns out just right. That bread dough recipe is used for our cinnamon rolls, and it was made in the very same KitchenAid mixer that started it all.

We hope you love our treats as much as we love sharing them with you!
